Ukraine Needs Your Help

Current Initiative: Toretsk, Donesk Region

Toretsk, in the Donetsk Region of Ukraine, is a small miner’s town that was founded in 1836. In 2014, its population was approximately 50,000 with about 8,325 children in schools and preschools.

When we started our initiative in 2023, 638 children remained in Toretsk, living in deplorable conditions but unable to leave for various reasons including having sick parents, a lack of money, or because they are now orphans being cared for by their elderly grandparents.

Since that time, Russia has slowly gained ground and now Torestsk is on the frontline of the invasion. All children have been ordered by the Ukrainian government to leave the city and yet, out of necessity, a few still remain. They are there with their families, including frail and elderly relatives. And one doctor remains in the city to support those stuck there. He works in the hospital that has been half destroyed by bombs and relies on the generators we have provided to run the hospital.

Russia is targeting Ukrainian infrastructure and hoping Ukrainians will not survive the winter due to the freezing weather. Generators will ensure that they will survive. We need your help.

Fundraiser

A generation of Ukrainian children have lost their childhood and now many are struggling to survive.

The Ukrainian Village Fund of Massachusett’s mission is to provide aid to children in Ukraine, one “village” at a time.

Driven by our children’s desire to help children living through the horrors of war in Ukraine, we are a grassroots network providing basic necessities to children who cannot escape the war zone.

We work directly with citizens who stayed behind in their destroyed villages and towns to identify the best way to help them survive.

We need your help.

Toretsk Fundraiser

“The damage to civilian infrastructure comes at a critical time when the temperature is dropping below zero, raising concerns about a serious humanitarian crisis during the harsh Ukrainian winter if people are unable to heat their homes.”

— Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the U.N. Secretary-General
